  1. Thanks for including the Yarn Weight Chart!

    1. You’re welcome. I love your website.

  2. I read the Atlantic article about the lockdown and I can see the merits of the author’s argument. I think it’s going to be hard for many (most?) people to move back towards a normal state of life and trust others. But if the vaccines work – and it seems that they do – it should be safe to be out and about more, even if those around you aren’t vaccinated. And if you can’t do more things after being vaccinated, it doesn’t appear to provide much benefit so it won’t help others who are vaccine resistant get vaccinated. Although I don’t know that anything will convince the vaccine resistant to get vaccinated…

All that said, I’m immune compromised so my situation is different as I might not be adequately protected by the vaccine so I need to continue to be very safe. The CDC says I need to continue to mask in public, but that really only protects others from me, not me from others… so once our city drops its mask mandate, I won’t feel safe in indoor spaces like Target. But Phil can handle all of our errand running so it’s not the biggest deal. But I am glad that I can be around friends and family that are vaccinated – that’s what I missed the most anyways!

  3. I can attest that “watching cat videos” is a lovely way to improve one’s mental health, hehe. My Reels on Instagram are mostly funny cat videos now and they make me so happy!

I also loved the article about breaking up with your phone. In general, I’m pretty good with my phone boundaries (I have most notifications turned off, use do-not-disturb for certain periods, and set time limits for some apps), but I could do better, I think! I like the idea of putting all your apps in a separate folder and taking them out when you need them to see which apps you never use!

  4. Thanks for all the fab links. Mason jar ice cream sounds super divine right now.

  5. I enjoyed a few articles on the list. Thanks for the never-ending reading supply. Happy weekend

  6. A couple of times, I’ve made “post a photo to Instagram every day” a goal and I found that it was mostly just stressful for me. I understand what the article says about taking time to look for something unusual or wonderful and share it, but it really just made me feel like my average day was less than it should be. But I love to see other people’s photos of daily life and how they see the world as special every day!

  7. One of the biggest challenges I see of continued lockdown measures is that it empowers people to not get vaccinated. I wonder a lot how I’m going to manage and coach my staff through the return to normalcy because I know there is a lot of anxiety around it… but it’s going to be necessary. And, it’s such a luxury to be able to WFH, stay home, and exercise that good citizen behavior. For those who can’t, what happens to their livelihoods when businesses are forced to close or layoff the workforce? The lack of any social safety net in the US makes it a very dangerous proposition.

    It’s all hard.

    1. You make a good point, Sara. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach, I am afraid…. but it’s also very precarious if people don’t want to get vaccinated, but start mingling again. I don’t know if there is a good middle-ground going forward.

  8. Thanks for all the awesome links! The mason jar ice cream is so cool! They have this “ice cream ball” at LL Bean that seems to do much the same thing. (https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/87717?page=uco-softshell-ice-cream-ball-pint&bc=&feat=Ice%20Cream%20Ball-SR0&csp=a&searchTerm=Ice%20Cream%20Ball&pos=1)

I’m one of those fully-vaccinated-not-ready people. Slowly getting a bit better, but with people who won’t get vaccinated, and variants developing quickly, I just feel like caution is okay for a while longer. I’m still wearing a mask in stores and will likely continue to do so for a while, at least. No good reason, obviously, but it makes me feel a bit better. *shrug*

    1. Oh, this ice-cream balls sounds very cool – thanks for the link!

I am so glad that someone else is the whole “reopening business” approaching as cautiously as I am :)
