20: Currently | November

THINKING ABOUT | how this year really flew by. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, we moved to our apartment a year ago. A YEAR AGO. I can’t believe it. It really didn’t feel that long ago.

EATING | pork fried rice. We found a pretty decent Chinese place in the neighborhood that makes a kick-ass pork fried rice.

DRINKING | tea. More tea.

READING | The New Yorker. I got a trial subscription and I am looking forward to reading it in print.

LISTENING TO | Soundscapes on Music Choice.

CONFUSED | about this weather. It’s November, 20, we haven’t had any rain here in Northern California and it was 90F last weekend when we went to SoCal (on the coast!). I mean, it was nice, but what’s happening?

LOVED | the beautiful sunset at the beach and the sand between my toes last weekend. Sometimes I wish we would live in a beach town.

TRYING TO | be accepting of a situation that I cannot change. It’s hard for me, because I am a fixer, but some things are not for me to fix.

WEARING | my new ankle boots.

LOOKING FORWARD TO | to Thanksgiving weekend. We don’t have any plans to travel, so it will be a nice, long, lazy weekend at home. I am looking forward to cooking a little feast for us and just hanging out. What are your Thanksgiving plans?

HOPING | that Congress and Trump will get their act together and pass a spending bill by tomorrow night. (Yes, it’s another budget deadline and yes, it’s probably going to be another continuing resolution.)

WONDERING | how it can be Christmas again in 5 short weeks! What?

What’s going on with you currently?

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2019

  1. Yikes, Christmas in 5 weeks? How is that possible! It’s going to come extra fast this year since Thanksgiving is so late!

We aren’t traveling for Thanksgiving either. My brother is hosting the big holiday on Thursday and then everyone is coming to our house on Friday night for a soup dinner. I”m making 3 different soups. I figure that will be a good meal after the heavy thanksgiving dinner! I’m also going to a local “idea house” with my mom and SILs. It’s a house by a local nursery that is redecorated for every season. I’m really excited to check it out. I’ve always wanted to go!

I’m currently preparing for our move on Friday! I’ve been super organized so feel good about how prepared we are. Our carpet is getting installed today so I am hoping we can go over there tonight and move all the stuff sitting in the living room up to the upstairs bedrooms (we moved a lot of small stuff over before listing our house). I’ll feel much calmer about the move once the living room is emptied out. It’s a hot mess right now!

  2. I can’t believe Christmas is in five weeks either. I feel like the time is so short! I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend as well. We’ll spend the day of with my parents and the Saturday after with my in-laws. And I plan to go wine tasting with some girlfriends as well.

  3. I feel like this year has sped by, too! Is this just how adulthood, like, GOES?!

  4. This year just flew by! I’m not complaining now because Nathen is gone and it will feel like he’ll be home faster. He has been gone for almost 50 days already! Crazy!!

Eva and I are flying to Colorado for Thanksgiving to visit my father-in-law. Nathen’s family is so sweet and nice and they invite me to everything. I love it!

  5. i hear ya on wanting to fix something that’s beyond our control to fix. :) acceptance is important; also less stressful. i can’t really believe it’s late november already.

  6. This year I have the exact opposite feeling: it seems to be so looong! We were in Spain in the first three months and it seems like that was years ago. It’s a good thing that it’s so easy to take photos these days or else I wouldn’t remember most of the stuff that happened in 2019.
Enjoy your days off at Thanksgiving!

  7. It’s hard to believe it’s already time for Thanksgiving and then all the holiday festivities. I mean, my work Christmas party is in just 2 weeks – what?! Time just FLIES, I swear.

Currently for me… very tired from this month, haha. I am grateful that I don’t have any plans tomorrow and Saturday so I can recuperate from a busy month before gearing up for a busy Thanksgiving.

  8. Christmas definitely comes early this year. I feel like I am behind with a few things already.
