1: NaBloPoMo 2019

Oh hey, remember this thing where you blog every day of the month? It’s that time of the year again, friends.

[bctt tweet=”It’s NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month. 30 days, 30 blog posts. Are you up for the challenge? #nablopomo2019 ” username=”@san_in_ca”]

Yes, yes, I am still here tooting the NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) horn, the 30-day blogging challenge first launched by Eden Kennedy in 2006, which has in the meantime all but crumbled and disappeared, and I don’t care if anyone is listening. I am still doing it, I am still writing and participating every year in November.

Once upon a time, there was a strong following with hundreds of participants, but in recent years people have moved on to other platforms or stopped blogging altogether. There is a splinter group that started NanoPoblano, the World’s Least-Official November Blog Challenge, but I am going to stick with NaBloPoMo. 30 days, 30 blog posts. That’s it. My own personal challenge every year.

Inspired by the Instragram Stories Q&A that is going around again and again, I thought it would be fun to write a post (or two, depending on the number of questions) this month answering some of the questions you might have for me. So, go ahead.

I hope you’re excited to come here a little more frequently again this month. Let me know if you’re also doing #NaBloPoMo2019 and make sure to use the hashtag!

Oh, and before I go: I am thinking about organizing another Secret Santa Mug Swap this year. I’ve hosted a swap for the last two three years and it was fun to spread some holiday cheer. Would you be interested to participate (again) this year? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m in! It’s a busy time of the year for me, but I would like to create the space/time to blog.

I always enjoy reading your updates. I’m tentatively interested in the mug swap. I’ll just need to see how hectic things are when it is happening.

    1. So happy you’re joining again!

  2. I’m excited to follow your daily postings! I did NaBloPoMo back in the day and I remember it was a challenge but in a good way! Good luck with this year!

    1. Thanks for following along, Beth! I appreciate it.

  3. Count me in for the Mug-Swap – that’s always fun!
I don’t know how you do it…. #NaBloPoMo seems to be “difficult” to keep up with but I love that you are so consistent with it – will be back tomorrow :)

    1. You know I love a good challenge ;)
Glad to hear you’re interested in the mug swap again!!

  4. You hooked me a few years ago and I am one of the few sticking it out. Here I go year three. Good luck to you and see you tomorrow.

    1. Thanks so much for still following along AND for participating again. Love it!

  5. Excited to join you! It’s amazing that you’ve been doing it every year. I’ve been promoting #nablopomo2019 in the hopes of encouraging more folks to join.

    1. So happy to have found you and that you’re also trying to bring NaBloPoMo back.

  6. I’d love to do the mug swap again!

Btw, you are pretty much the only blog I still read. Mostly everybody has transitioned to Instagram these days but I love reading your blog.

    1. That means a lot! I know most people have transitioned to IG (and I do love the platform), but there’s something about this online-home of mine that I just can’t quit :) Thanks for still reading and commenting here!

  7. I’ve seen this online a few times and it sounds like fun.

I did NaNoWriMo for a few years and this year I decided I’m going to work on one of the novels and add to one of them. So I feel like I’m doing a version of it haha.

I think with anything it takes dedication and making time so one can enjoy the process. Good luck with NaBloPoMo and I look forward to reading your posts.

Regarding the question section – is there a theme to the sorts of questions bloggers can ask?

    1. Oh, that’s great that you’re doing NaNoWriMo this year. Good luck.

Re: the questions: you can ask anything that you’d like to ask :)

  8. Yay! I’m so glad you’re doing NaBloPoMo again. One of these years, when I’m not doing NaNoWriMo, I’m going to join in. We have to keep blogging alive!!

    1. So great that you’re doing NaNoWriMo again…. but yes, we also have to keep blogging alive!!

  9. I love that you do this challenge. I don’t know that I’d have the time to do a full month of posts, but I love reading other people’s posts.

    -Lauren

    1. I understand that people feel posting every day for a month is too much, but you’re already on a pretty regular blogging schedule!

  10. I’ve never done NaBloPoMo but I love reading along when you do it!

    1. Thank you, I appreciate that you always read and leave thoughtful comments!

  11. I love this idea but have no idea how I would come up with enough material to blog everyday. Currently at 4 x a week

    1. 4-days a week is impressive. I usually manage 2-3 times per week year-round, but in November, I commit to a daily blog post :)
