1: Hello November. It’s NaBloPoMo.

Here we are in November. There are 61 days left of the year 2018, which is just madness if you ask me. Where did the time go?

I hope you had a nice Halloween. Do you dress up at work? Our office is not really into the Halloween-spirit, so nobody comes in costume or anything, but since I work on a campus, there were lots of students that were dressed up. J and I watched “The Corpse Bride” last night (I had never seen it) and gave out some candy. Nothing fancy.

November will be busy for me in a lot of ways. I feel like I said that about September and October already, but I guess things still won’t let up for a while.

+ I am hoping we’ll get some rain. October was surprisingly warm and we only had a day or two with any precipitation and while it’s been really nice, we do need the rain.

+ I am thinking about organizing another Secret Santa Mug Swap this year. I’ve hosted a swap for the last two years and it was fun to spread some holiday cheer. I am also thinking of opening it up to my Canadian friends this time. Would you be interested to participate (again) this year?

+ I am looking forward to next week’s four-day weekend. Do you get Veteran’s Day off?

+ I am also looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend. It looks like J’s parents will be visiting us this year, so it’ll be nice to actually host family for Thanksgiving. I’ve only hosted a friend once a few years ago (which was a lot of fun) and most of our Thanksgivings in the last few years were just low-key with it being just J and me.

+ There likely will be a few other things going on in November which I will tell you about as they happen.

+ Last but not least, if you’ve been around my blog for a while, you know that I’ve been participating in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) for many, many years. In the very unlikely case that you don’t know what NaBloPoMo is all about, it was a 30-day blogging challenge that was first launched by Eden Kennedy in 2006. I have participated since the very beginning and it had a strong following with hundreds of participants for many years, but it looks like the challenge has fizzled out over the last couple of years. I don’t really know if it officially exists anymore, but I feel like it’s a blogging institution and while I might be the only blogger in the whole wide blogosphere who is still keeping it up, I am determined to blog my way through November and I invite you to join me!

[bctt tweet=”It’s NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Are you up for the challenge? Add your blog to the list and check out other participants! #nablopomo2018″ username=”san_in_ca”]

This comes at a good time for me, because blogging has been all over the place for me the last few weeks and I am looking for a little bit more structure. It might sound like I am imposing artificial pressures on myself, but I really enjoy the structure of the challenge and wouldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy it.

I hope you’re excited to come here a little more frequently this month. I’ll try and put some good posts together. As always, if you have any questions for me or topics you’d like me to blog about, leave your thoughts in the comments.

What’s going on with you in November?

I am creating a link-up here for those bloggers who still want to participate in NaBloPoMo. Let’s see how many of us are still out there! So please add your blog to the list below and also tweet out the link, so people can find this list of other participants!

  1. I’m so glad you’re doing this! I’m going to try my best to do it too!

    1. Yay, I am so glad you’ve decided to join me again!

  2. I’ll have a lot of posts up this month but definitely not one every day. I don’t usually post on weekends, plus I’m going to NYC at the end of the month and I won’t have much for those days as I won’t really be paying attention to my blog. Good luck with the challenge though – can’t wait to see what you post! I hope that November is a good month for you, even if it is busy (hopefully GOOD busy!)

    -Lauren

    1. I know you post more regularly (during the week) anyway and I understand that you won’t be able to blog when you’re traveling. Thanks for following along!

  3. I love your commitment – even though life might be a bit crazy around this time of the year.
Did someone say Secret Santa Mug Swap? Count me in!

    1. I am glad to hear you’re excited about the Mug Swap! :)

  4. I’ll totally play along in a mug swap! I don’t ever use mugs, but it’s still fun! :)

    1. You don’t use mugs? Glad you still want to play along :)

  5. Am I crazy enough to try to do Nablopomo this year? possibly. I’ll have to think about it a little today though! I’m interested in the mug swap. I never did it before!

    1. That would be amazing, if you’d join us. :) And I’d love for you to participate in the mug swap!

  6. Secret Santa Mug Swap is one of my favorite holiday things!

    1. Oh yay, glad to hear!!

  7. If you open it up to Canada, I’m IN. ;)

  8. I got 2 trick-or-treaters this year which is twice as many as last year :D I decorated the front of the house a little and had so much doing it. Now it’s time to shift gears and get into the Xmas spirit. I live overseas from family so things need to be posted by the end of November!

    1. I know all about getting things planned out for the holidays early, as my family lives overseas, too :)

  9. Woo hoo on NaBloPoMo! I would do it if my work wasn’t moving next week! I hope it goes well for you! I did dress up at work yesterday and we had a little lunch party, it was pretty fun! I also get Veterans Day off so I’m looking forward to a long weekend soon!

    1. I loved your Halloween costume and I am glad you had a great Halloween!

  10. Let’s do this NaBloPoMo again. Hope I finish again as I have a few things here going on too. We had no Halloween people coming by. I am no fan. Last year kids rang the bell but I hid as i didn’t have any candy uups.

    1. Hooray! Thanks for joining again…. :)

  11. I still haven’t seen “The Corpse Bride”, but I know so many people love it :)

    1. I liked it too, but I think I like The Nightmare before Christmas even more!

  12. Oo the mug swap sounds fun!

    1. We’d love to have you!

    1. Would love for you to participate in the mug swap…. and who knows, maybe you’ll follow through with NaBloPoMo as well :)

  18. Ooh I am excited to read during November now! I like all kinds of posts… How about a Day in the Life post?

    1. Great suggestion! Thanks!

  19. So happy to have found you and a few others that are still participating in #NaBloPoMo ! I’ve felt so alone the last few years. I’m super excited for all the great inspo and connections coming my way this month!

    1. So glad you found us! I requested to follow you on Twitter and am looking forward to following your blog this month!

  20. I’ve never participated in NaBloPoMo but have read along as you’ve participated over the years!

We do not get Veteran’s Day off but the bond market is closed so it’s a very quiet day in our office. I’ll likely be able to sneak out a bit early that day. I love when that happens as I get some extra time with Paul!

November is shaping up to be a pretty quiet month for us which I am so happy about. I’m trying to keep my weekends open and quiet as some of my October weekends were way too busy! We are spending Thanksgiving with Phil’s mom. It will be nice to not have to travel for the holiday!

    1. Thanks so much for always reading and commenting!
I am hoping you’ll have a nice and quiet November! Sometimes we need to take a break after some busy weeks and the holidays are right around the corner!

  21. I don’t get Veteran’s Day off – we only get the big holidays off. I’m not even sure if I’ll get Christmas Eve off this year, womp, womp. I am taking a full week off for Thanksgiving, which is the first time I’ve ever done that. I’m not going anywhere and not even sure what we’re doing for Thanksgiving this year, but it will be nice to have some time off.
