29: November Favorites

1.Honeycrip apples. I mentioned Honeycrips when J and I went to Apple Hill last month and they now sell them at Trader Joe’s, so I’ve been on a Honeycrips kick for the last few weeks.

2. It’s the season for me to start drinking (more) tea again and I’ve been loving on Peppermint tea most recently. It’s so refreshing, yet soothing. I have at least one cup of tea every evening.

3. My new Brooks Launch 4s. I don’t know any runner who is not a little running shoe-obsessed. Ah well, comes with the territory. I won these shoes in a giveaway (and I have run other Brooks shoes before) and I love them.

4. One of my favorite drugstore go-to foundation is Mabelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation. I try to branch out and have used other, more expensive brands and other drugstore foundations before, but when in doubt, I always come back to this one. It applies nicely and has medium coverage (I don’t like looking like I have layers and layers of makeup on). I use shade 125 (nude-beige).

5. It’s the time of year where I love lighting a few candles around the house, because they make such a cozy atmosphere and smell beautifully. (My favorite scent is vanilla – always.) These candles from Ikea come in a pretty glass and burn time of 55 hrs, which is quite good for the price of only $3.99. Candles can get so expensive. Yankee Candles cost 6x as much but only have a burn time of up to 150 hrs in comparison. Michaels has AshlandⓇ Candles in a jar that also burn 100+ hrs for a fraction of the price.

6. I am usually not someone who plays games on their iPhone, but J and I fell into a bit of a rabbit hole a couple of days ago, when I encouraged him to find a game for him to enjoy and he suggested that we find an old-fashioned  ‘Tetris’ app, Classic Tetris Brick Game. I used to play this on the computer waaaay back in the day. We’ve gotten into a bit of a competition to try and beat each others records and it’s been fun. (In case you’re wondering: so far, J wins.)

  1. I have been eating lots of honeycrisp apples, too! I have an apple a day most days. I’m also drinking a lot of tea since I’m not drinking coffee much during this pregnancy. I’m loving the Harney & Sons pumpkin spice herbal tea and I just ordered some cinnamon tea. It’s nice to have an alternative to coffee as I do like drinking something warm in the morning!

I LOVED tetris when I was young. Part of me wants to download the game but part of me knows it will be waaaay too addicting!!!

    1. Yes, I have an apple a day too…. so good! Apples are one of my favorite fruits anyway.

  2. Have you tried TJ’s Green Tea with Candy Cane flavor? The only one that beats the Peppermint Tea from Teekanne!

    1. I have not, but I guess I should? ;)

  3. Peppermint tea is so soothing!

  4. I’m newly obsessed with the Bengal Spice tea from Celestial Seasonings!

    1. OH! Thanks for the recommendation!

  5. I get my Yankee candles at Ross (like half the price) but they are still like $12.99. I have a cat that pees in my house, so when my piano students or company comes, I like to burn a candle and Yankees are REALLY fragrant. But I am TOTALLY open to buying a cheaper candle if they are really fragrant. Do the Ikea candles really fill a room?

    1. Oh yeah, Ross is a good tip… thanks!
The Ikea candles are fragrant, but not overpowering… depends on the size of the room, I guess ;)

  6. I love peppermint tea and I need that candle. I love vanilla but never have vanilla candles. :)

    1. You never had vanilla candles? GIRL! Get on it. :)

  7. Oh, I love candles! That’s such a great price for how long it burns. I need to stock up on some new ones; we’re running low!
I’m obsessed with honeycrisp apples! They are turning into the only ones I enjoy. hah

    1. Honeycrips are so good. I also love Gala.

  8. My favorite scented candle is a balsam fir scent, I think it is Yankee, but I remember buying it at Kohls for practically free. Sale + coupon + Kohls cash.

I love Peppermint tea, I just found some cinnamon tea that is good, but wish it was a little more vibrant, I think it’s the brand though, not cinnamon tea as a whole, so I plan to keep tasting brands, it is the perfect cup to curl up with in the wintertime.

    1. Oh yeah, Kohls… that’s smart. Thanks for the tip!

  9. I’m a huge fan of tea at night time. Especially peppermint with the holidays in the air. It’s fantastic.

  10. I used to love Tetris (and Dr. Mario, too!) back in the day. I should (but shouldn’t, ha!) download that game on my phone, too :)

I really love to burn candles this time of year, too, and just bought a Yankee Candle because proceeds went to a local shelter, but you’re right–they’re SO expensive. Do they burn 50 hours, or 150?? I think you have 150 written so wanted to be sure. Also I need to go back to Ikea. But that place is a rabbit hole (and an argument) waiting to happen :) I have seen many relationships come to an end in the kitchen department, lol.

I’ve never heard of that shoe brand before, but they are beautiful!

Hope you’re having a great week, my sweet!

    1. The website says up to 150 hours for the Yankee Candle.

I always to Ikea by myself. My husband doesn’t like to come along… don’t know why ;)

  11. Yes – I love Maybelline’s Fit Me line. It’s one of the few that I can count on for all-day coverage.

It’s also this time of the year that I need to start using my fresh balsam candle to make it seem as if I have a real Christmas tree in my home. ;) Nothing like that scent this time of the year!

    1. Oh, that is a great idea…. get a candle that smells like a Christmas tree :)

  12. I went to the store and had mint tea on my list of things to get and ended up coming home with a delicious cinnamon apple sort of tea that I never would have tried before, and it’s good, but in browsing through teas I totally forgot to get something minty! It’s going back on my list. I feel like winter and Christmas calls for mint-flavored deliciousness!
