loving the current fall weather. It’s still pretty warm during the day, but the evenings and mornings are cooler and we haven’t used the AC much anymore, but also haven’t needed the heater. I love this time of year for running and walks and not the least because our energy bill is lower, ha!

eating turkey meatballs (and ground turkey in general). It’s so versatile and such a light meat option for a ton of different dishes. I’ll share some of the recipes I’ve been making with ground turkey with you in November (for NaBloPoMo).

drinking my first cups of hot tea this fall. I’m on a peppermint kick right now. Yum.

listening to a new podcast, “The Move with Joe McIntyre”. If he can’t get me into podcasts, nobody will. Haha.

excited about a new coffee mug. I was out shopping for my #SPBoxSwap partner Beth last weekend and came across a mug that I just couldn’t walk away from. As previously mentioned, I have a bit of a mug addiction and I believe drinking coffee (or tea) out of pretty mugs makes every beverage that much better, am I right? Well, and this mug was just so different and unique. (I should get rid off some old mugs, though. Seriously.)

reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I am again on a slow reading path this month, but that’s ok. This book is worth my time though.

working on some crafty things. I am trying to find some time to prepare for the holidays and crochet some new garlands and make some more cards for our Etsy shop.

wishing and hoping for my bff’s cancer treatment to be effective. I cannot – and will not – accept anything else. She just finished her first round of chemo and I can’t help but being reminded of what a strong woman she is to go through all of this again.

bummed that the Red Sox didn’t make it to the World Series this year (but thrilled that at least the Yankees also got kicked out by the Astros!). The Red Sox had such a good season, but oh well. That is what happens in sports. You win some, you lose some.

looking forward to Halloween. I am not much into scary movies, but I’ve caught part of Hocus Pocus already (which always makes me happy, ha!) and I love that we get trick-or-treaters at our house now. When we lived on a 2nd-floor apartment in a fourplex, we never had trick-or-treaters.

What’s going on with you currently?

  1. I love the mug you got for me, so I hope you got yourself a great mug too! I’m bummed my Twins didn’t get past the playoffs, it would have been fun to have them in the World Series too, but like you I’m glad the Yankees got kicked out by the Astros! I’m getting so excited for Halloween!

    1. Loved the mug, as you already know :)

  2. I am loving the fall weather too! Things got quite chilly last night and I had to scrape my car this morning (I could do without that) but I”m loving cuddling up under a blanket and just reading with a cup of tea!

    1. Cuddling up with a book and a cup of tea = my favorite way of spending time in the fall. :)

  3. Oh, I love swaps – and I always find things I want when I’m shopping for other people. haha I don’t like warm drinks, but I LOVE mugs. I don’t know – something about them I guess!

I’ve owned The Hate U Give since around when it came out and I STILL need to read it. I have a difficult time reading books I buy myself because review books tend to come first. It will happen though.

    1. I think there is a kind of rule or something that when you shop for other people, you always find something for yourself :) haha

  4. I don’t think that I’ve had peppermint tea since last winter. I cannot believe how fast it came this year. We just got frost this morning! I think I have a slight addiction to mugs now – of all things to be addicted to. I have no where to put them.
I am sorry to hear about your bff . My dear friend was diagnosed in the summer. She is on round 5 of chemo. I can’t be with her through this process – she lives on the other side of Canada and it breaks my heart. She’s so brave though. I’ll be thinking of your friend. xoxox

    1. I only have peppermint tea in the winter (for some reason), but then I go through multiple boxes in no time… :)

I feel you on the mug addiction, my cabinet is overflowing (and I really should give some away).

I am so sorry to hear that your friend is going through chemo, too. I know so many (young) people with cancer :(

  5. Isn’t it awesome how little things like coffee mugs can make such a happy difference in our lives? I’m not a huge Halloween fan but my apartment is having a little party tonight and my daughter is going to get dressed up and we’ll go… actually looking forward to it!

    1. It’s amazing what a pretty mug can do for you, yes! :)

  6. I, too, am thrilled that at least the Yankees got the boot!

  7. I am so ready for Fall weather to make it’s way here, I’m tired of melting. Also, just read The Hate U Give & I could not put it down, such a good read, definitely worth your time.

    1. Great read for sure…

  8. We’re getting some lovely fall weather here in Florida, too! It’s doing wonders for my mood. There’s just something about not melting every time I walk outside that makes me so happy.

    1. Oh, I am glad temperatures are falling a bit in FL too :)

  9. I’m glad you are getting some fall weather! Not having to run the a/c or heat is nice! The temps have really dropped off here so it’s starting to feel like winter is coming. The high today is 35 so it’s going to be a quiet night for trick or treaters, I think.

I love using ground turkey, too. Last night I made chili for our annual pumpkin carving party and I used ground turkey instead of beef. I doubt that anyone could tell!

    1. Yes, this time of year is great when you don’t need the AC but also don’t need the heater yet! :)

Ground turkey is so versatile for cooking… we’ve been using it a lot and I agree, it works just as well in chili as ground beef does!

  10. I love spring and fall when both the AC and the heat are off and my electric bill is tiny. It makes me so happy! And I definitely always end up wearing a bunch of sweaters before finally breaking down and turning on the heat, but for now I’m definitely enjoying the cool nights and warm days.

    1. Cool nights and warm days FTW :)
