A day in San Francisco

You know, I do this sometimes: go to San Francisco to meet up with various ladies, that I once upon a time met on the Internet, and spent the day. I’ve done it with Viviane, with Manja, with Jenny, and last Friday with my friend Tanja . San Francisco is a great place to just hang out for a day, walk around, explore, and get to know each other (in person).

Well, in Tanja’s case, we already had the pleasure to meet each other in person last year (down in Southern California), but I was excited to see her again when she came up for a short visit of the City with her Mom.

Even though it is about a two-hour trip for me to go to SF, I welcome every excuse to go there when I can. I mean, I am so lucky to live so close to one of the nicest cities in America, so I might as well take advantage of it.

Friday morning, I drove to the East Bay and then hopped on BART to go into the city.

I got off at the Embarcardo and then bought myself a “Blue Bottle Coffee” (I had heard so much about it, but never had the chance to try one before) before walking along the piers towards Pier 39.

Tanja and her Mom were still on a tour to Alcatraz (which, in all the years, I have still never been to – can you believe it?), so I took my time and enjoyed the beautiful day. I mean, look at this gorgeous weather! Blue skies, no fog in the bay, only a slight breeze and 75 degrees. It’s a rarity!

These views also NEVER get old.

I walked by the Exploratorium…

… and then all the way to Pier 39, to take a peek at the Golden Gate Bridge from afar and pay a visit to my animal friends, the sea lions.

Around noon, I met up with Tanja and her Mom and we decided to walk around a find a place for lunch.  It was so great to see Tanja again and we had no problem reconnecting right away.

We got a nice outside table on the promenade and had fish and chips! Yum!

We passed the time chatting away and then walked over to Ghiradelli Square to take the Cable Car to Union Square.

At 3 p.m., I said goodbye again and hopped back on the BART to head home. I had such a fun time hanging out with Tanja and her Mom for a few hours and I am so glad they picked such a beautiful weekend to visit San Francisco!
