18: Five pet peeves

1.  People who don’t return their shopping carts to the designated areas. Why do people not do that? I don’t understand. I hate pulling into a parking spot that is blocked by abandoned shopping carts.

2. Price stickers that won’t peel off. I hate when they leave a film of paper and adhesive behind on my new purchase and I have to use other (time-consuming) methods to try and get it off. It’s 2014! You’d think that is one thing they could have figured out by now.

3. When I email people and they only reply to half my email (or not at all).  It drives me nuts when I write a long email and then half of my questions go unanswered. I asked these questions for a reason, you know? If you don’t want to answer a question, just say so, but don’t pretend I’ve never asked.

4. Emojis on websites. Just don’t. As much as I love emojis for text messages, I can happily do without them on blogs and in email conversations. I am talking about the yellow smiley-faces, not necessarily the keyboard-shortcut smileys :) I don’t mind those as much (but don’t like to see them overused either).

5. Asking for help and basically being told to figure it out myself.  Well thanks! That sure doesn’t make me want to reach out ever again!

  1. I’ve got to disagree with the emojis one. I have Aspergers and I have learned that smileys are very useful for me. If I do not use them, shizzle can go bad fast and my words tend to be misinterpreted. So I use them everywhere, comments, blog posts, emails, and in actual real life I smile at people face to face.

I will see if I can change my smileys back to text, I think there is a setting in wordpress to do that. :)

  2. And there is, and I fixed it. :)

  3. OMG I thought I was the only person who hated emojis in blog posts!! Glad I’m not the only one. Especially, ESPECIALLY, on professional websites. I look around at other photogs websites, and I’ve noticed some – not all – will blog about a photo session they did (wedding, portraits, family, etc.) and they will put emojis in there. SO ANNOYING. If I were looking for a photog, it would deter me away from them.

Don’t get me started on those price stickers…they ruin the product most of the time.

  4. I pretty much hate all of those things too…especially when people don’t respond completely to my email. That’s so darn annoying. Then I feel like a pest when I resend the same questions.

  5. The worst part about #1 is when the shopping cart return is steps away. People just don’t have the decency to bother returning the cart. >:(

Recently I’ve been dealing with #5 at work. We hired a consultant to help us implement new software. She’s supposed to have all the answers, but when she doesn’t, she just tells us to figure it out.. She makes it “our homework.” SO LAME.

  6. OH NO!! I half answered your email AND used an emoji!! hahahaha SORRY!!! : B

  7. I hate the half answered email, seriously SO ANNOYING. And price tags? Oh man I couldn’t agree with you more, oy.

  8. Ugh…all of these bother me too! The half answered emails bug me the most, I think. Especially at work! Grrrr.

  9. I can relate to all of these. Hate the sticker residue on new purchases! Just plain horrible!

  10. I use smileys all the time, like extra punctuation. I’m trying to stop myself but it’s like it’s ingrained … I hate when people don’t return shopping carts! One of my biggest pet peeves lately is people who don’t know how to park properly. Just put your vehicle between the lines, people! It’s really not that difficult!
