One Lovely Blog Award

one-lovely-blog-award

Kyria was so sweet and gave me a blog award a little while ago and I am happy to pass this award along by doing the following:

1) Post the award logo on your blog and link back to the person who nominated you.
2) Tell seven things about yourself.
3) Nominate up to 15 additional bloggers whom you think deserve the award.
4) Post a comment on the blog of each nominee to tell them they have been nominated!

Here are the seven things about me.

1. I am a grammar nerd. I always loved grammar in school. While I can tolerate the occasional error or typo, blog posts – and worse FB messages, where I see it much more often –  that are riddled with mistakes make me cringe. By no means am I saying that I don’t make the occasional mistake (English is my second language after all), but if you’re publishing anything on a blog, in a public forum or on FB, for peet’s sake, have some kind of grammatical standard.

2. I love dairy. Milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, you name it. I don’t know if I could ever give it up.

3. I don’t really watch any current TV shows. I am not glued to my DVR every night. I mostly watch the news and then occasionally I DVR some silly shows like ‘Sister Wives’ or ‘Veep’, which we watch when we have time or feel like it. I know I am in the minority here, as so many people follow all kind of TV series.

4. I don’t really like avocados, but I love guacamole. Odd? Maybe. I think I like the taste of avocado more than I like the texture of the actual fruit. Maybe that’s why I like it all mashed up (with salsa).

5. I wish I was more fashionable and I wish I had some sort of personal style. I see things on other people or in the store and then buy them because I think they look great, but once I am home, I can’t make those items work for me. My wardrobe is all over the place. I guess, I am – like in so many areas of my life – an eclectic.

6. I’ve become an on-and-off-athlete. Can one say that? Ha! Anyway, the point is: I have phases where I do really, really good with my workouts and then I have phases where I fall completely off the bandwagon. Before you chime in and tell me this is possibly normal, I’d like to point out that I have a degree in P.E. and I have played some kind of sports game (often more than one) throughout my whole life. It still feels odd to me to just go to the gym and not go to tennis or softball practice and play games on the weekends.

7. The only thing I won’t eat is liver. Oh, and I won’t try any other weird animals or insects.

I am nominating a few lovely ladies (I am not sure I am going to make it to 15, but whoever feels like playing along and who I didn’t nominate, is very welcome to participate!):
Chrissy, TerraLaurynMandy, Erin, StephAnneAlli, Holly, MelErin, Viviane, and everybody else who would like to have some fun with this!

  1. Thanks so much, sweetie! Love this and love your 7 facts! We are really pretty alike. I feel the same about grammar, about avocados (I keep having them, but I really only like them in guacamole as well), I don’t eat liver, ever and I am the same about sports (even though i should do more)!
    Will post this tomorrow!
    Love ya xxx

  2. Thanks for the nomination :) I feel exactly the same as you do about grammar – LEARN THE RULES. It’s really not that complicated! And use spell check!! I don’t watch any current TV shows either, Nathan and I just download entire seasons of shows we like on Zune and watch them instead :)

  3. 1) I so so so agree! (But it is more the German language!)
    2)I am with you.
    3) like 2)
    4) I like both
    5) I think I just found mine!
    6) Kinda like me but I was never a gym person, more the ball game girl! And I still am!
    7) I had to eat it when I was a kid. Wouldn’t do it anymore! But I tried quiet wired things! (Like sheep testicles)

  4. I also love dairy, won’t eat liver unless it’s disguised (pate and the sort), and have a good eye for grammar. Though I have to say that being English my second language, I too sometimes have doubts about things I write, and now because I write more in English than in Spanish, I’m beginning to get those doubts in Spanish as well :(, ah the life of the bilingual.

  5. I am not surprised you like guac but don’t like avocado. I think the fruit on its own has a pretty strong taste! I’m the only one in my family that eats them sliced up (w/ salt and pepper, yum).

I don’t eat liver either. ICK. In general, I am not a fan of eating organs. So i avoided tripes when I was in France, too. And sweatbreads. No thank you!

  6. I am a dairy fanatic as well, I think I could live on cheese…

These posts are always great because I find some great new blogs to read!

  7. I used to feel this way about grammar, and I still do to some extent, but I’ve relaxed a lot about it as I’ve gotten older.

I love guacamole but I also love avocados haha.

I feel the exact same way about number 5. I really try too.. I’m just too eclectic I guess haha.

  8. Nice, new facts about you. :-)
Don’t ever had and don’t ever will have liver. Brrr.
I like Avocado though. The best I ever had was from a Whole Foods eaten at the beach in LA.
    Ah, nice memories. *sigh*

  9. Thank you for the nomination. Can you believe I just graduated from a MFA program and I have shoddy grammar? because it is true. I’m working on it!

  10. I could never give up dairy either! I love cheese! My personal style is similar to yours…I like it on someone else/the hanger but when I put it on, I am not sure what to do with it, or if it’s “me”. I think “me” is jeans and a t-shirt, even though I keep trying to prove otherwise.

  11. Totally agree with #1, #4, and #5! Thanks for the award, will do mine soon!
