Random Facts

LET THE FUN BEGIN!

On this first day of NaBloPoMo, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share some random facts for old and new readers :) Come and get to know me better! Don’t hesitate to ask questions as well.

• I am a fraternal twin. I am 2 minutes older than my twin sister and we don’t look alike at all. Or maybe we do. It’s up for debate.

• According to others, I am one of the most patient persons there is. I hope this is a compliment.

• I am a homebody. I’ll choose an evening on the couch or coffee/dinner with friends over any party night out. This is not to say that I didn’t do my fair share of partying and dancing.

• I can’t sleep without a blanket. Even in the summer, I need at least a sheet to cover up the mid-part of my body.

• I am scared in the dark and I don’t like horror movies (much to J’s dismay, whose favorite holiday is Halloween). When I was little, I often asked my sister if I could sleep in her bed with her.

• I’ve started to learn skiing when I was 4 years old. I got my instructor’s license when I was in College and went on some skiing trips with my old highschool and taught some 9th graders for a couple of winters.

• I’ve always been a Daddy’s girl, but I am also incredibly close with my Mom.

• I love Christmas. It’s my favorite time of the year!

• I’ve known my oldest friend since Kindergarten. It’s amazing to think that we practically shared all of our lives together.

• I love the smell of coffee far more than the taste of it, although I have come to appreciate a good cup of coffee (with just the right amount of milk/creamer).

• I always hated to write in cursive. I think cursive handwriting can be very pretty, but I don’t like my cursive handwriting. As soon as I left elementary school (where they made us write in cursive), I always printed – up to this day.

• I worked as a mail carrier during the summer breaks in College. It was a fun job, because you were outside all day riding around on a bike in gorgeous weather and the work load was significantly reduced during the summer. I also loved delivering (personal) letters and packages to people, knowing that I would put a smile on somebody’s face. However, being a mail carrier in Germany is a tough job. I do not envy the people who do this day in and day out in any kind of weather!

Now, your turn – tell me something about you that I don’t know!

{post inspired by Katja’s and Nora’s latest posts}

  1. Gosh, I think I am an open book. But here goes:
I was the youngest in my family. An afterthought to parents who had only planned on two children.
I have been married twice. The first time for 11 years and now for 23.
I had two daughter 23 months apart.
I also have the thing about sheet/blankets.
I do not like horror movies either.
    I love Rauhhaardackels!

  2. I can’t sleep without a blanket either! And I thought I am the only one!

  3. I can’t sleep without a blanket either (even in 110-degree summer heat in the desert)! As for something you don’t already know about me…let’s see. Did you know I used to think I would never be able to exercise because of my asthma? I mean, I could barely walk up a flight of stairs without getting seriously wheezy. But now I run 6-8 miles a week! :)

  4. I need something covering me when I sleep too! And I like a little coffee with my creamer. And I was seriously just thinking the other day how I wished that I like my cursive writing. It’s so elegant! But mine looks the same as it did in elementary school. Blegh.

And that’s so cool you carried mail! And on a bike!

  5. You’re setting the bar pretty high if this is your first post for NaBloPoMo! =)

I never realized you were a twin. For some reason, the way you talk about your sister and also probably because she already is a mother, I assumed she was older than you!

  6. I do think you and your sister look a lot alike! :)

I also HAVE to sleep with a blanket, no matter how hot or cold it is. There’s just something comforting about it.

  7. I need a blanket in bed as well, always! And Leonie would so agree on the cursive handwriting! She had to start with it here and she hated it at first…now she kind of likes it but not the having to write in ink part! haha
    Hugs xxx

  8. I LOVE writing in cursive – it’s my default handwriting. I’m so sad to see it falling out of fashion. Kids don’t even learn cursive anymore!

  9. i totally need a blanket on me when i sleep too. i just love snuggling up.

love this post. so nice to “re-meet” you :)

  10. We have SO many random things in common lol! First of all, I’ve always WANTED to be a twin. I’m jealous of you. I hope you guys get along well?! :) My best friend and I have known each other since kindergarten too- I love telling people that I’ve had a best friend for 17 years now. I also hate cursive a lot… and I require a sheet in the summer too ha! When I was in Greece this summer I slept in a bed where I only got a pillow and it was so awkward. It was hot out but I felt so bare without any kind of blanket! It was the worst sleep ever :(

Cute post- I’m joining in on NaBloPoMo too, I think it’s going to be a great month. Good luck in your posting! Can’t wait to see what you write.

  11. I have to sleep with a blanket too. Lately its one my great grandma crocheted.

I think you are an amazingly patient person. I miss our talks. Hope we can talk soon.

I will take a night in over a night out any day.

  12. Firstly, you and your sista DO look alike

Secondly, you have THE prettiest hand writing ever… I have always been and will always be jealous of your hand writing

Thirdly, something you don’t know??? I only own 3 pairs of shoes…. random I know but a friend and i were talking the only day and she was shocked by my (lack of) shoe collection lol…. what can i say? I HATE Shoe shopping!

  13. lol – pretty funny how many people need a blanket to sleep with. (BTW – I’m one of them ;)
I didn’t know that you are a skiing instructor – pretty intreating!

  14. I’m afraid of the dark too and that’s about the only reason I haven’t applied to become a police officer yet.

Also, I really hope I get to meet you someday because we seem to have a lot in common.

  15. i’m the same way about a blanket. no way to just lay there all out in the open. i need some kind of cover :)

you know so much about me already, so it’s hard to come up with something new. hmmm … did you know i worked at a tanning place on weekends during my apprenticeship?

  16. We have A LOT in common. I could say the exact same thing for 6 of your statements above :)
