On who I am right now

january 23, 2007 - day 107

I am…

… feeling a little bit stressed out and unmotivated lately, which is a clear sign that I need some time off, like NOW. (Oh wait, my trip is only a week away! Weeeee!).

… acting a whole lot like a headless chicken, because I have so much to do and so much to think about before the trip to Germany, but honestly? I can’t wait. I can’t wait to see my family again, to cuddle with my new nephew, to play with Greta, to not think about work for once, to just hang out and relax for three whole weeks. I haven’t had that much time off in a long time!

… looking forward to spending time with friends that I couldn’t squeeze in last time due to my very tight schedule during my last visit!

… trying to justify my lack of exercise with me having too much going on right now and trying to counterbalance with eating healthy and drinking more water tea.

… hoping that I’ll get a first  glimpse of summer during my time off so that I can run around in shorts and flipflops all day and that we can have many, many BBQs in my parents’ backyard :) (I love BBQs, in case you didn’t know. I would BBQ all summer long, if we had a BBQ grill and a patio/backyard to go with it. Hmpf.)

… wondering why all of the issues that are brought up in the 70’s show “All in the family” (which we’re currently watching on DVD) still seem to be not even close to being resolved 40 years later. Disturbing, to say the least.

…pleading with “whoever is in charge of giving out time” to provide me with some extra hours in the next few days so that I can get the baby quilt for my nephew’s baptism (which is in 10 days) done.

… cautiously hoping that someday I will get all of my gazillion of questions answered. Like, why is there no tuna pizza in this country? Or, why is it that when one person wins, another has to lose? I know, it’s a lot to ask, but there have to be answers. There must be answers, right?

  1. I can tell you why there is no tuna pizza: Because that just sounds gross.

And as for the winning/losing? Not everyone wins or loses. It’s all a matter of how you’re playing the game. :)

    1. OMG, you can only say that because you never tried tuna pizza. It’s the best, I swear (and the Italians do it and Italy is the land of pizza ;)).

  2. You forgot “beautiful” :)

  3. This is a really nice entry, San.

I hope you get everything together for your trip and the baptism. I’m excited you get to go back to Germany so soon, and for so long!

  4. Will you take me with you? I need a vacation, too! And three weeks off sounds like such a luxury!

    1. I’d totally take you with me! :)

I can’t tell you how much I am dying for a vacation… I saved up my vacation/overtime for much too long!

  5. That pic is stinking gorgeous!!

  6. Haha- i agree with Jamie:-).

  7. Awwww what a pretty picture of you that is! I really really love this post. I am so excited that you are able to have some time off work! That sounds absolutely delightful. I have you have a wonderful time in Germany, exploring all your old haunts and conjuring up memories. <3 Good luck with all you have to do before then, I know you'll find the time! I love old tv shows! Oh, and I have to say that the idea of tuna pizza is not appealing to me, either…but maybe that is because I am imagining a can of tuna dumped on top of a pizza? Haha. I would definitely be down to try it if I were in Italy…hmmmm. I'm intrigued! <3 Lovely post :)

    1. If you do like tuna in general, I am pretty sure you’d love tuna pizza. You need to go to Italy ;)

Thanks for all the lovely words.

  8. Hey, you are coming to Germany, which brings back a tought I have had before but always forgot to ask…I remember you are in Bremen all the time visiting friends…where do you know them from and are you going to be in Bremen this time, too? I grew up in Bremen and lived there until I was 24 (except the three months in Canada and the Au Pair Year in DC). My parents still live there and we need to visit them anyways…so maybe we could meet for a Coffee at Starbucks…if you are up to it and find some time…

  9. Oh I bet you are looking forward to your trip. Just wondering, do you get more than two weeks per year off? It kind of seems like it? What kind of job do I have to get in the US to get more than two weeks of per year? Haha, that is one of the major points that make me hesitant about considering applying for jobs there.

    1. Oh no, no, no – I get 10 vacation days. That’s usually it. But I have a lot of overtime and my boss let’s me take it as vacation (as he won’t pay me for overtime anyway), so I can take more time off which is totally fine by me! :)

  10. That’s a beautiful picture! I hope you have a fantastic vacation ~ I can’t remember the last time I had 3 consecutive weeks off. Maybe when I was 16, before I started working? And I think tuna pizza sounds disgusting too … ick.

  11. Friend!! I’m soo excited for you!! It sounds like it’s gonna be a fab time! Make sure and bring back lots of pics to share with us!

As far as unanswered questions…maybe they’re supposed to remain unanswered to ensure we always question things instead of just accepting what’s force-fed to us???

Aww…look at me trying to be all intellectual..hahahaha!
