Can it really be over already?

nablopomo_end

Today is November, 30 – which marks the end of NaBloPoMo. I really enjoyed NaBloPoMo again and I almost kind of sad that it’s over. There are still some posts sitting in my draft folder, but don’t you worry, those posts will be finished and published some time in the near future.
I guess, it’s kind of a good sign that the end of the month, and therefore the end of NaBloPoMo, kind of snuck up on me this time and almost came as a little bit of a surprise.

Here’s to all the great people who persevered and stuck to blogging every single day for the month of November. Thanks for reading and commenting throughout the month. I really appreciated each and every one of you.

Only 31 more days and the 2009 is over and done with as well. This year went by in a snap of a finger. I can’t believe how fast the months flew by.

J and I won’t be going to Germany for Christmas and it makes me a bit sad not to be able to spend Christmas with my family and especially little Greta. I really had thought (and planned all year in my head) that we would fly to Germany for Christmas. I thought we would go to the Christmas markets and have hot chocolate and Belgian waffles. I thought we would have some snow and take some long walks through the winter landscape. I thought I would help my Dad set up the Christmas tree and decorate it on the morning of Christmas Eve.
It’s was kind of a damper to realize that all this isn’t going to happen this year.
I think we just had to face the facts and acknowledge that various reasons argue for postponing our trip for another few months, the biggest reason being the arrival of our new nephew in March and a tentatively planned baptism some time in late spring.
It would be impossible – financially and in regards to vacation days – to go now and in the spring, especially considering that I had just been to Germany in September (for only 10 days, mind you). It’s still kind of hard to accept for me, because I am such a family person.

What are your plans for Christmas?

  1. It always breaks my heart to know how sad you are to be away from your family!

I complain all the time, that I miss mine. But…I’m so close to all of them!

I’m sorry you’re sad…but just wait til you hold your lil nephew in your arms…you will be so happy!!

  2. I’m sorry to hear that. I know EXACTLY how that feels.

  3. well, you know my plans… like i said, don’t spend too much time being sad and try to make it as festive and comfy at home with J. maybe plan a short trip somewhere (for your anniversary maybe?) – san fran, vegas, san diego… ? maybe even boston (or chicago – you’d even get a weihnachtsmarkt there ;) ) so you can have some snow. don’t you have some miles still? just try and enjoy the time AS IS! i know it sounds easier than it’s done but it’ll help make time go by faster until the spring! :)

  4. Hubby and I will be here. But I don’t know if Mandy will be coming up at all. She hasn’t been around much lately. Not sure why.

  5. I know how you feel….It’s always hard to be that far away from the family!
We get company this year and I’m pretty excited because we invited all our friends over to a christmas party with Gluehwein and Marzipan! So if you are in our area – stop by!

  8. Congrats on completing NaBloPoMo! It has been such a great experience and it feels like I have become much more involved in the blogging community.

I am sorry that your Christmas won’t be like you hoped but spending time with your nephew soon will ptobably make up for it. So I assume you are planning a Germany trip for next spring?! ;)
.-= Stefanie´s last blog ..Thank you, November. =-.

  9. Sorry you won’t be going to Germany for Christmas. That stinks. :-( Rick and I will be traveling between Buffalo, NY, and home, trying to catch up with all of the family. It will be fun, but exhausting! We’re spending New Year’s in Cooperstown, NY. Since we’re both big baseball fans, this is our fave place! Happy Holidays, San! And congrats on NaBloPoMo!

  10. I get to spend Christmas with my husband’s family in Michigan. I’m a little sad we won’t get to spend our first Christmas as homeowners in our new home, but I’m sure we’ll still have lots of fun in Michigan (even if it will be super cold).
